Dear Friends of Camp Bimini,

These are exceedingly challenging and uncertain times for our community, country, and world. Many of you are experiencing hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and Camp Bimini is no exception.

Given the circumstances, and with much prayer and thoughtful deliberation by our board, Camp Bimini has made the difficult decision to not offer our traditional on-site summer camp program for summer 2020. Although this has been a difficult decision, the safety of our campers, families and staff is paramount to us. We will be offering full refunds for 2020 summer registration.  To those registered for summer 2020, please read in full the email sent on May 12, 2020 to you.

As an alternate, we are excited to offer a new program: Bimini Connects!  It will be an online camp experience for families.  Camp Bimini, as our mission statement says, is a “place where campers may experience nature, grow spiritually and create lifelong friendships”. Bimini Connects (BC) offers a way to stay connected with our campers at this very important time, by way of a new and exciting platform.  At a time when building community is more important than ever, BC offers a space to gather and share our feelings, dreams and fears in safe ways. This online platform will allow Camp Bimini campers an “experience where they feel loved and valued for who they are” while reconnecting with their friends and fellow campers and, at the same time, doing many of the familiar activities of Camp Bimini.  Please view this video created for Bimini Connects.  More information available here with this FAQ sheet, or please contact the camp.

Our spring rentals and spring school program have been cancelled as well. This loss of revenue represents approximately 85% of our annual income.  With these changes, we’re doing everything possible to sustain Camp Bimini and cover fixed costs such as retaining necessary staff, property taxes, insurance coverage, loan payments, already incurred credit card charges from initial registration, and general maintenance so that Bimini is ready when it’s time to welcome campers again.  This represents approximately 40% of our budgeted expenses, leaving us with an expected shortfall due to the pandemic of $80,000.  Please consider a financial donation at this critical time.  As a non-profit camp, your gift now is extremely important in allowing Camp Bimini to meet its basic needs in 2020 and greet 2021 with fewer financial burdens.  You can print this form and mail your cheque to the camp to send us your gift today.  Or you can donate online.  Please direct your gift to COVID-19 RESPONSE.

We will be launching fundraising opportunities in mid-May.  We thank you in advance for your participation and support.  Please watch for them.

Psalm 46:1 reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear…” Throughout history, God has helped his people through tough times. Bimini itself has experienced difficult times before, and yet, thanks to the persistent generosity and prayers of its supporters, it has thrived and grown. It is truly amazing to consider how many lives have been positively changed at Bimini since 1947 through the help of our friends and donors. In these uncertain times, and with your help, it is our intention to have Bimini remain a beacon of light for years to come.

Thank you for being part of our Bimini family!  We eagerly await the end of the pandemic so that we can gather in person soon.  We hope you stay healthy and in good spirits!
